  • Which Style Hearing Aid Is Right for Me?

You should consider many factors when purchasing a new hearing aid. There is no single type that is the best in every category, so you must consider how important each factor is to you. Factors to consider while shopping for hearing aids include:

    • How severe is the hearing loss?
    • How visible will the hearing aids be?
    • Will the aids be used with a phone?
    • How much venting is needed?

    Styles available:

    1. Behind-the-ear (BTE)
    2. In-the-ear (ITE)
    3. Half concha (HS)
    4. In-the-canal (ITC)
    5. Receiver-in-canal (RIC) or receiver-in-the-ear (RITE)
    6. Completely-in-the-canal (CIC

  • What Do You Charge for Service After Purchase?

After you purchase a hearing aid from us, all follow-up visits are free of charge for your lifetime. This includes routine cleanings, programming, exams, & other repairs. We recommend regular cleanings once every three months & a hearing exam annually.

  • Do I Need Two Hearing Aids?

It's ideal to wear two hearing aids if your hearing loss is in both ears. Both ears are used to localize sounds. Hearing aids also help to reduce background noise in loud environments. Wearing two hearing aids will provide a higher-quality sound.

  • Will My Voice Sound Different With a Hearing Aid?

Yes, it will usually take about a month to get adjusted to the sound of your voice. Other sounds like chewing will also sound different. The volume & echo of your voice depends on the size of your hearing aid. Smaller hearing aids have smaller vents, making your voice sound louder & more echoey.

Here's a good tip: read out loud to yourself for 10-15 minutes per day for the first two weeks you have your hearing aids. This helps your brain get familiarized with your voice. Practice recognizing new sounds is crucial to making the most of your new hearing aids.

  • Will My Hearing Aid Reduce Background Noise?

It depends on the level of technology in the hearing aid you purchase. Traditional hearing aids cost less than modern versions, but you will notice more background noise in a loud or bustling environment. Newer hearing aids don't eliminate the challenges of background noise. However, you will hear far better with some of the modern devices available over conventional hearing aids.

  • What if My First Choice Doesn’t Work?

We know that hearing aids aren't one size fits all. Hearing Solutions carries GN ReSound devices, but we also offer a selection of other brands to try. If the first hearing aid you try doesn't work out, we recommend trying a different model or brand. Our staff will work with you to find the most suitable device.
